After the devastating loss of Head Coach Herb Lane Jr. in March, the Perry Commodores had to recover quickly and find a new front man. Instead of looking for a top coaching prospect, the Board of Education decided to bring back one of their own, and former star for the Commodores, Luke Taviano.
Once a standout ON the Gridiron, Taviano will now be roaming the sidelines in his first ever head coaching gig. He says he’s excited to rebuild the program to a competitive level in the NWCC; and with a new face comes a new look.
It’s time to bring “a smash-mouth form of football back to Perry,” said Taviano. A power running offense and a 4-4 swarm defense will be the new poison for Perry when the toe hits leather later this month.
