Francisco Lindor slugged a grand slam and a three-run homer to power the Indians to a 9-3 win over the Royals in Kansas City. Lindor finished with seven RBI and three runs scored. Corey Kluber gave up two runs in the first inning but settled down to get through six and earn his 12th win.
The Indians and Royals meet in the second of their three-game series in Kansas City tonight. Cleveland is 46-and-37, nine-and-a-half games ahead of the Tigers for first in the AL Central. Shane Bieber gets the start for the Indians opposite the Royals’ Danny Duffy.
Indians pitcher Danny Salazar is out for the rest of the season. He had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder yesterday. Salazar has been on the DL all season and can’t throw for 12-to-16 weeks.
