The Browns 17-game losing streak came to an end, but it wasn’t with a win. Cleveland played the Steelers to a 21-21 tie at FirstEnergy Stadium during Week One of the 2018 NFL season. The Browns rallied from 14 points down with two fourth-quarter touchdowns — Carlos Hyde scored from one-yard out and Tyrod Taylor connected with Josh Gordon to tie the game with 1:58 left. Zane Gonzalez’s FG attempt was blocked in the final 10 seconds of OT that would have won the game for Cleveland.
It was a strong Browns’ debut for wide receiver Jarvis Landry. Landry piled up seven catches for 106 yards on 15 targets yesterday. Tight end David Njoku was the only other Cleveland pass catcher that had more than one reception.
Browns second-year defensive end Myles Garrett showed off what he could be in the tie against the Steelers. Garrett had two sacks, two forced fumbles, two QB hits and a tackle for the loss. The 22-year-old was selected with the number-one overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The Browns are at the Saints on Sunday for Week Two. Coverage begins at 9:00 AM on Lima’s Sports Radio 93.1 The Fan!
