After a delay due to malfunctioning lights, Mike Fiers tossed 131 pitches and the second no-hitter of his career to lead the Athletics to a 2-0 win over the Reds in Oakland.
It is the first no-hitter of the season and 300th in Major League history. Jurickson Profar was responsible for both RBI for Oakland with a double and a home run.
The Athletics stopped a two-game slide and a stretch where they had lost eight out of nine. Tyler Mahle pitched well giving up only one run over six innings but was saddled with the loss for the Reds.
The only Cincinnati batters to reach base were Eugenio Suarez and Yasiel Puig, who both reached base via a walk. Jesse Winker reached after an error for the Reds. Cincinnati has lost four of its last six.
