Troubled Browns WR Josh Gordon will miss the start of training camp to remain focused on his sobriety.
Gordon, 27, has missed most of the past three seasons after being suspended multiple times for his substance abuse issues. The NFL says Gordon has not been suspended.
Cleveland GM John Dorsey says the franchise backs Gordon, and will place him on the non-football illness list until he’s prepared to return to team activities.
Browns’ WR Josh Gordon did not have any slip ups or failed tests, per sources. His leave is a pro-active, defensive gesture to get extra counseling to try to ensure he does not have any of the setbacks that have marked his past. Those who know him say he has “worked his a— off.”
