Jose Berrios and Taylor Rogers combined on a two-hit shutout as the Twins blanked the Indians 2-0 on Opening Day in Minnesota.
Berrios struck out 10 while pitching into the eighth for the win. Rogers recorded the final four outs for the save, extending his scoreless streak to 27 innings dating back to last season.
Marwin Gonzalez doubled in the game’s only runs in the seventh to give manager Rocco Baldelli a win in his debut. Byron Buxton doubled with one out in the sixth to break up a no-hit bid by Corey Kluber. The two-time Cy Young winner allowed two runs in seven frames to take the loss.
