GoFAS Racing’s Matt DiBenedetto isn’t one of the sports more well-known drivers.
After being in top five in the final stages of the Daytona 500, he crashed, finishing 27th. He then finished 31st at Atlanta before finishing a season-high 21st at Las Vegas Sunday.
Unfortunately, DiBenedetto’s team is unsponsored for this weekend’s race in Phoenix, and will probably have to sit out the event.
DiBenedetto posted a video to Twitter, asking if any of his fans know any C-level people at large corporations that would be interested in sponsoring his car.
We hate doing this, but we are UNSPONSORED as of right now for @ISMRaceway this weekend! If you or anyone you know has the ability to help us connect with a business interested in coming on board this weekend please contact the @GoFasRacing32 page ASAP! pic.twitter.com/3hbFnTBBqI

That’s when current Joe Gibbs Racing driver, and former Daytona 500 champion, Denny Hamlin stepped in to offer a donation.

After seeing the tweet, NASCAR legend and current FOX announcer Darrell Waltrip stepped up to offer another $5,000.

Kevin Harvick, who’s won the last two Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series races, has also pledged $5,000.

When it comes to racing, $15,000 might not be a lot, but it’s a start! Hopefully we’ll see DeBenedetto on this track this weekend!
